| Abstract | In addition to house dust mites and storage mites, dust lice (Psocoptera) can be found in large quantities in urban and rural dwellings in Germany. IgE antibodies to the Psocoptera species Liposcelis bostrichophilus were determined in 87 patients (city-dwellers and farmers) with storage mite- sensitization using ELISA. In 26/87 patients (29.9%) specific IgE could be detected, more frequent in city-dwellers (34.3%) than in farmers (15%). We conclude, that Psocoptera must be regarded as potential cause of allergic airway diseases.
