Abstract  Material of mallophaga on Glareola pratincola (L.) is studied for the first time in the Iberian peninsula. This material is determined as Quadraceps ellipticus (Nitzsch). Taxonomic data about the other species parasites on Glareolidae: princepes Timmermann, lotus (Nitzsch), schusteri Timermann and alexandrinus (Giebel), are given. These species are included, by some authors in the genusGlareolites Eichler but by any others in the genus Quadraceps Clay & Meinertzhargen. The morphological characters of those species are examined beside the same of the other species of the genus Quadraceps: hospes (Nitzsch), furvus (Burmeister) and junceus (Scolopi) which live on another hosts [sic]. The taxonomic status of the Glareolites is discussed, for concluding that it is not seperable from Quadraceps.
Notes  Includes figures of Quadraceps ellipticus, detailed drawings of the preantennal region and plurites in addition to outline drawings of the head for several species of Quadraceps.pdf Journal
