| Abstract | General rules and guidelines of the chemical control of ectoparasitoses have been reviewed; i.e. only the registered compound can be used; all animals kept together should be treated and the Arthropods in the environment should also be considered; concentration and temperature of working solutions, as well as the labour safety rules are also very important. Table 1 and 2 give detailed overview on the preparations used against Arthropods in groups according to their effective agent (compound group), as well as application in Hungary. Thereafter, preparations used against the ectoparasites of horses, ruminants (Table 3), swine (Table 4), poultry (Table 5), as well as dogs and cats (Table 6) are demonstrated (the proprietary names can always be seen in the left column of the tables), together with their effective agents, potency spectrum, application and manufacturers). It has been pointed out that collection of drugs has increased fortunately, however effective preparations are not available against all the ectoparasites and ectoparasitoses (i.e. for spraying or washing of horses against chewing lice, horse and other flies, against myiasis of ruminants or against Argas infestations of poultry).
